On June 29, 2024, the world was struck by the tragic news of the death of Captain Yevhen Haiduk near the village of Malaya Tokmachka in the Zaporizhzhia region. In 2022, when the conflict in eastern Ukraine intensified, Captain Haiduk was among the first to volunteer for the front line duty. He was deployed to the Joint Forces Operation Zone, where he flew numerous combat missions, providing air support to ground forces and conducting reconnaissance operations. His bravery and skill in the air earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow soldiers, as well as the gratitude of the local population.
Despite the constant danger, Captain Haiduk never hesitated to carry out his missions, always putting the safety of his comrades and the success of the operation above his own. His courage and selflessness were recognized and praised by his superiors, who quickly promoted him to the rank of captain.
Tragically, on June 29, 2024, while on a reconnaissance mission near the village of Malaya Tokmachka, Captain Haiduk’s aircraft was hit by enemy fire and crashed.
