В марте 2022-го вместе с мамой эвакуировался в Бахмут: на Курщине погиб боец из Луганской области

In the Vinnytsia region of Ukraine, a brave defender was laid to rest on December 6th, 2021. Roman Mischenko, a 27-year-old Ukrainian soldier, was killed in action while defending his country’s borders.

Mischenko was born and raised in the small town of Bar, Vinnytsia region. He had always dreamed of serving in the military and protecting his homeland. In 2014, when Russia annexed Crimea and invaded eastern Ukraine, Mischenko joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

During his service, Mischenko showed exceptional bravery and dedication. He was deployed to the frontlines multiple times and participated in various military operations. Mischenko’s comrades describe him as a fearless and selfless soldier, always putting the safety of his fellow soldiers and country above his own.

On November 29th, 2021, Mischenko was on a routine patrol near the village of Pisky, in the Donetsk region, when his unit came under heavy enemy fire. Despite being outnumbered, Mischenko refused to retreat and continued to fight until he was fatally wounded. His actions allowed his comrades to regroup and successfully repel the enemy attack.

Mischenko’s death was a devastating loss for his family, friends, and fellow soldiers. He leaves behind his wife, parents, and a young daughter. His wife, Oksana, remembers him as a loving husband and father, and a true patriot. She says, «Roman always wanted to make a difference and protect his country. He died doing what he loved, and we are proud of him.»

Mischenko’s funeral was held in his hometown of Bar, where hundreds of people gathered to pay their respects. The ceremony was attended by government officials, military representatives, and members of the local community. Mischenko was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, one of Ukraine’s highest military honors, for his bravery and sacrifice.

During the funeral, Mischenko’s commanding officer, Colonel Oleksandr Koval, spoke about his exceptional qualities as a soldier. He said, «Roman was a true hero, always leading by example and never backing down from a challenge. He will be deeply missed by all of us.»

Mischenko’s death serves as a reminder of the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine and the sacrifices made by Ukrainian soldiers every day. Since 2014, over 14,000 people have been killed in the war, including more than 4,000 Ukrainian soldiers. Mischenko’s death is a tragic reminder of the toll this conflict has taken on the country.

However, Mischenko’s sacrifice will not be forgotten. He will be remembered as a brave defender of his country, a loving husband and father, and a true hero. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations of Ukrainian soldiers to defend their homeland with courage and determination.

The Vinnytsia region and the entire country mourn the loss of Roman Mischenko. His funeral was a testament to the love and respect he had earned from his community. He will always be remembered as a true patriot and a hero. May he rest in peace.
